Understand all the on-screen elements and information displays during gameplay.

What is the HUD?

The Heads-Up Display (HUD) shows important game information without obstructing your view. Different challenges have different HUD elements based on their needs.

Common HUD Elements

Score Display

Location: Usually top center or top left Shows: Current point total Updates: Real-time during gameplay Color: Yellow/gold (#ffe16b) typically

Lives/Health Indicator

Location: Usually top left Shows: Remaining lives or health Format: Hearts, numbers, or icons Color: Blue (#8ab4f8) or red when low

Timer

Location: Usually top center or right Shows: Time remaining or elapsed Format: MM:SS or seconds Warning: Changes color when low

Level/Wave Indicator

Location: Usually top right Shows: Current difficulty level or wave number Updates: When progressing Color: Red/orange typically

Progress Bar

Location: Usually bottom or side Shows: Completion percentage or distance Visual: Filled bar with markers Updates: Continuously

Understanding Indicators

Color Coding

Green: Safe, good status, proceed Yellow: Warning, caution, prepare Red: Danger, freeze, critical Blue: Info, status, neutral Purple: Victory, special, bonus

Visual Feedback

Flashing: Urgent attention needed Pulsing: Ongoing effect Static: Normal state Grayed out: Disabled/unavailable
